PREPRESS
We provide full digital imaging capabilities, with flatbed and high-resolution drum scanning as well as museum-quality camera work. The workstation features a Leica model S-1 Digital Camera with 100mm lens, mounted on a Linhof Technopro copy table illuminated with 120-volt Kaiser Softlight lamps enabling direct imaging of three-dimensional pieces that cannot be scanned using conventional methods. Our Digital Camera workstation will image directly to a digital file in the first generation, thus guaranteeing that your object will be reproduced with the least possible loss of visual information. We invite you to specify this method of imaging for projects that defy conventional scanning technologies. Please take a look at some of our earlier digital camera projects, and some oversize pieces shot for the website with the digital camera. To obtain the faithful reproduction of fine art, photography, and manuscript facsimiles, we offer fine-screen black and white, duotone, tritone, and full-color imaging. Our color preview and image analysis station for color correction and manipulation allows for exacting adjustments. To ensure the highest level of production control, we make our own separations in-house. |
PREFLIGHT |
We will preflight your files if your project is ready to output to film, using the latest versions of almost any page-layout software on Macintosh or PC workstations. We can accept a variety of media including floppy disks, Zip and Jaz disks, and CDs; please call or email Darlene Smith, Pre-Press Manager, with any questions about your disks. Preflight will include a check that all fonts and high-resolution images are available for printing before the job goes to film, saving you the expense of corrections later in the proofing stages. |
PROOFING
High-resolution duotone, tritone, or halftone images will be color proofed with the DuPont Water Proofing System on the actual stock you have chosen for your project. Four-color images will be color proofed with the HP Color Proofing System. You may also choose to proof selected images on a press proof if your project requires it. For page positioning and checking imposition, a blueline proof is the final proofing stage. |
